Russian Tea Ball

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans work well)
  • Additional powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the creamed mixture, blending well.
  4. Fold in the finely chopped nuts until evenly distributed in the dough.
  5. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on an ungreased baking sheet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the bottoms are lightly golden.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool for a couple of minutes. While still warm, roll the cookies in powdered sugar until coated.
  8. Allow the Russian tea balls to cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, roll them in powdered sugar again for a snowy appearance.

Enjoy these delightful Russian tea balls with a cup of tea or coffee!
