Potato Fritters

Ingredients:

  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Grate Potatoes:
  • Peel and grate the potatoes using a box grater. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
  1. Prepare Batter:
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
  1. Add Eggs:
  • Stir in the beaten eggs, mixing well to ensure all ingredients are evenly combined.
  1. Heat Oil:
  • In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. You’ll need enough oil to submerge the fritters.
  1. Fry Potato Fritters:
  • Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the potato mixture into the oil, flattening them slightly with the back of the spoon. Fry until golden brown on both sides.
  1. Drain Excess Oil:
  • Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  1. Repeat:
  • Continue the process until all the potato mixture is used, working in batches if necessary. Be cautious not to overcrowd the pan.
  1. Serve:
  • Serve the potato fritters hot, either on their own or with a dipping sauce of your choice.
  1. Garnish (Optional):
  • Garnish with chopped fresh herbs like parsley or chives if desired.

Enjoy these crispy and flavorful potato fritters as a delicious side dish or snack!
