Ingredients:

  • 2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
  • 2 cans (8 count each) crescent rolls
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Ground cinnamon, for sprinkling
  • 12 oz Mountain Dew (or lemon-lime soda)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and core the apples, then cut each apple into 8 slices.
  3. Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles.
  4. Place an apple slice on the wide end of each crescent triangle and roll it up, sealing the edges. Arrange the wrapped apple slices in a buttered 9×13-inch baking dish.
  5. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the butter and sugar mixture over the wrapped apples in the baking dish. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
  7. Pour the Mountain Dew over the dumplings. Note: The soda will create a sweet and bubbly sauce.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the dumplings are golden brown and cooked through.
