Ooey Gooey Butter Bars

Ingredients:

For the Base:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

For the Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare the Base:
  • In a bowl, mix together the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and one large egg until well combined.
  • Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  1. Prepare the Filling:
  • In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  • Add the two eggs, vanilla extract, melted butter, and powdered sugar. Mix until well combined.
  1. Layer and Bake:
  • Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake mix base in the pan, spreading it out evenly.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.

  • Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
